Frequently asked questions.

What is a doula?

A birth doula is a trained professional who supports parents through pregnancy, birth and the initial postpartum period to help them achieve a healthy and satisfying birth experience.  A birth doula works closely with clients throughout their pregnancy to help them to prepare for birth through educational resources.  During labor, a doula is present either at home, hospital or birthing center to provide physical and emotional support in a non-medical capacity. Doulas also act as an advocate in the birth space to promote a safe and comfortable birth environment.
